• Increased resources in our Public Safety to be more efficient, transparent, and accountable to Rahway residents
• Investing in the Department of Public Works to equip them to effectively respond to weather emergencies
• Increased resources within the Department of Health to expand services including offering a community social worker
• Established the first free city-run senior transportation service, and doubled the investment based on demand during the height of the pandemic
• Restructured code enforcement department and policies to effectively address property maintenance concerns
• Investing $2 million dollars to address flooding and climate change through stream stabilization, debris removal, and storm water control strategies to keep waterways clear
• Passed Ordinance O-43-21 granting the Mayor the authority to waive permit fees for homeowners affected by future State of Emergency incidents
• Established a Blue Acres initiative that will seek to install detention basins to mitigate future storm damage
• Established a Tree Commission with the purpose to assess tree conditions and implement a plan for responsible tree management
• Rahway is an active participant in the Federal Flood Study that was recently reinstated with the insistence of local leaders like Mayor Giacobbe, City Council and County Commissioners
• Through the Rahway CARES grant, we successfully distributed over $500,000 to local businesses during the pandemic, to keep Rahway open for business
• Development of the first downtown strategic plan in over two decades
• Prioritizing Rahway seniors with an initiative to invest in affordable senior housing
• Secured over $3,000,000 toward the rehabilitation of affordable family housing units
• Designated $9.5 million dollars in road and sidewalk reconstruction (2019 - 2022)
• Invested $3 million dollars in park and recreation upgrades (2019 - 2022)
• Presents over 100 arts and culture events each year to celebrate Rahway's diversity
• Established Rahway’s Nonprofit Coalition to leverage community assets and increase the impact of essential community organizations
• Established the Rahway Social Justice Commission to engage with community leaders and residents
• Funded the library in excess of 1M over state minimum over the past four years
• Delivered 100% of school budget requested every year
• Rahway’s AA Bond rating allows increased infrastructure investments
• Rahway’s aggressive efforts to secure grant funding offsets the cost of increased services to residents without increasing taxes
• Responsible use of PILOT revenue contributes directly to establishing a 0% municipal tax increase for two years in a row.
